    • Shrubs like Tree mallow, Sun roses, Hibiscus, lavendar, salvias, butterfly bushes, desert natives like desert bloom, Apache Plume, to name a few and and bulbs such as tulips, daffodil and more. In your vegetable garden root crops like carrots, parsnips and potatoes favor sandy soils. Lettuce, strawberries, peppers, corn, squash, zucchini, collard greens and tomatoes, but these will need shade cloths. I probably should have edited out “handful” and said, most plants, because I realized I’ve not covered every plant that you can grow and, in fact, with good compost/nutrient amendments you can probably grow anything that fits your temperature zone.
